AI and Academic Integrity

One of the most immediate consequences of AI in higher education has been student use of AI technologies on coursework. Academic integrity is crucial for both scholarly and creative work, as well as instruction. The rapid progress of generative artificial intelligence (AI) means requiring explicit communication to students about university-wide and course-specific academic integrity norms. Take caution to communicate any and all expectations about AI in all of your courses.

Citing Generative AI

In most cases, AI writing tools should not be used as an academic source of information unless a faculty member or instructor has explicitly approved AI-generated content for use in coursework. Please consult both your instructor and the following resources that articulate the usage and citation conventions for common citation styles:
