Peer-reviewed / Scholarly / Refereed Journals

This guide will show you what these journals are and how to find these kinds of articles

Databases for peer-reviewed journals

Library databases get you to scholarly and peer-reviewed articles.  You'll need to limit your search to eliminate the magazine articles.  Science Direct  and Medline are the exceptions; they only cover peer reviewed journals.

WARNING: not all articles in a peer reviewed journal are peer-reviewed. Letters to the editor and book reviews are not peer reviewed articles.

Searching Journals

Journal Search can be used to find if the Library has access to the full-text articles published in a specific magazine or journal. Search by subject, title, or keywords. Use the "Search Inside" feature to keyword search within that magazine or journal for articles relating to a subject.
