Occasionally, the Learning Commons will not have a book or article you want to read. There are a few ways these items can be requested.
As always, you can reach out to your favorite librarian to request resource, but first, try one of these methods below.
The above record shows the Concise Guide to Information Literacy is not available at Parkland College. From here, you have two options shown under the "How to get it" section:
Books requested through I-Share typically arrive within 1-2 weeks while requesting a book be purchased can take 6-10 weeks.
If you feel strongly that a book should be in the Learning Commons collection, but need it soon, please contact a librarian for assistance.
To request the book, click the process you want to complete to access the form. All relevant fields will be automatically filled with the necessary information. Just click "Send Request" at the bottom of the form. You will be contacted when the book is available or if the request cannot be completed.
In the image above, the article "Does Media Literacy Help Identification of Fake News?" is not available through the Learning Commons' current databases. To get a copy, click the "Request this article" form under the "How to get it" section to request a copy.
Fill out Part 1 with your contact information and Part 2B with any additional information to help us identify the article you need (some fields will be auto-filled).
Librarians will use the information in this form to request a PDF copy of the article from another library and email it to you. Please expect 1-2 weeks for the copy of the article to arrive.
This Interlibrary Loan form is also linked at the bottom of the Library homepage under Services.
