Searching the text "site:" before a website URL lets you search only within that site, searching the text "filetype:" then the type lets you look for that type of file, searching the text "define:" before a word lets you find its definition, searching the text "intitle" before a word likes you find words in the title of the webpage, searching two periods between two dates lets you search the range, searching by inserting an asterix between words let's you find other combinations of words between words,  searching with a minus sign before a word excludes that word from searching, searching a word in quotations retrieves results with that exact word, searching a phrase within quotations retrieves result with that exact phrase.

It suggests using operators (site colon is used for searching only that stie, quotation marks around a phrase limits the search to that exact phrase, putting a tilde in front of a term will also search related terms, a minus symbol before a term excludes it from the search, and two periods between a date range limits it to results from that range. For Google Scholar, you can search a particular author using the term author and a colon after it, followed by the author's surname. For a definition, you can type define, a colon, and then the term. Keyboard shortcuts include find on page (control plus F), zooming in and out (control plus the plus or minus sign), and selecting the address bar (control plus L). It is recommended to search the library's website first, to not cite Wikipedia, and to refer to bibliographies of trustworthy sources for more.
