The Parkland College Archives collects primary and secondary materials relating to the college from campus and off-campus sources. The Archives aims to offer a rich, diverse, and organized collection of historical materials including paper documents, photographs, architectural drawings, microfilm, audiovisual materials, and memorabilia which documents the College’s history, decision-making processes, student culture, and people, places, and events significant to Parkland College.
The College Archivist shall collect, review, organize, and preserve materials which are suited for inclusion in the archives collection. Such materials include, but are not limited to:
- The founding charter, statute or legislative documents of Parkland College, as well as subsequent authorizing documents substantially affecting the mission of Parkland College.
- Minutes of Board of Trustee meetings.
- Records of the administrative, faculty, and student governance committees, including agendas, minutes, and significant supporting documents.
- Published and unpublished annual reports of academic and administrative officers.
- Publications covering basic institutional mission, including course catalogs , class schedules, curriculum handbooks, degree requirements, and sample syllabi.
- Faculty, staff, and student directories.
- Records and publications of student organizations and athletic programs.
- Publications issued by campus departments, student and faculty organizations, and administrative bodies, including scholarly journals, official reports, departmental newsletters, newspapers, and student organization announcements.
- Selected publications by faculty, staff, alumni, and students (e.g., books, scholarly articles, honors theses).
- Personal papers of selected individuals who have played a significant role in the history of Parkland College.
- Selected publicity materials of the College.
- Relevant memorabilia.
