Books from I-Share

If the book you need is checked out or we don't have it at Parkland, you can look in the I-Share catalog. Requests from I-Share usually take 3-4 business days to get to Parkland Library. With internet access, you can request books 24/7 through I-Share. (I-Share is a group of 75+ college & university libraries in Illinois.)

To request a book, you first create an I- Share account. You need to know your Parkland ID number and your Parkland email address. You MUST use your Parkland email address, no Gmail or Yahoo, etc

Finding Books

Books on Your Topic:

  • Use the Parkland Catalog Search box on the left
  • Use the Tips below to help you set up your search 
  • Write down the call number to find book 
  • Use your Parkland ID to check it out at the Main Desk

Tips:

  • You can search by Title in the drop down menu (a partial title may be enough)
  • You can search by Author in drop down menu (first and last name is best but just the last name will work)
  • If you are interested in a particular topic, select Any Word Anywhere  in the drop down box 
  • Use as few words as possible while describing your topic
  • Try similar words for your topic
  • If you can't what you want, continue your search in I-Share. Books from I-Share, in the left column, will tell you more.
